Johnston Marklee
Today I will talk about an architecture firm called Johnston Marklee, and one of his projects that related to my work.
According
to united state artists org “Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee are the founding of
the architecture firm Johnston Marklee”.
They have taught
in big universities, they have taught
in big universities, such as Harvard graduate school of design.
One of the projects
that I will talk about its Vault House, it is beach house that related to my
project, and from my view that the building design like geometric design, also,
it is not just the exterior also the interior he worked inside the building and
made a lot of shapes. However, he made the windows not as usual windows, and
that also made the house different for a beach house that around this area.
Another point for his design the building entrance does not vision able. Also, there is an open area inside the house.
Also, now I will go through the design and analyse the building. According to Johnston Marklee firm” Vault House is situated on a densely developed Californian beach site and challenges the standard prime, single-view typology by applying a strategy of complex layering of transparent interior spaces”.
Also, the
picture above was how the architect design the windows to be all the view into
the ocean and have natural light.
This picture
above was elevation of the house and how was design in each section of the
house. Furthermore, if we notice all the rooms have different shape and style.
In addition,
the picture above shows how they worked on the geometric design and distribution
to departments on the walls.
Also, here
how they manage the floor plans for the house below.
Furthermore,
this research helps me to look for the materials that used in the house because
my project will be in the ocean. In this project according to archdaily “Limestone
is used for all floors and as wainscots, both inside and outside, while an
elastomeric, cementitious membrane called “Grailcoat" wraps the exterior
façade. The membrane eliminates the need for metal flashing and control joints”.
The outcome of the house will be below.

This shows improvement in terms of how you talk about another designers work - much better. This is more relevant - good to see this on here.
ReplyDeleteThe discussion of the materials is quite brief - are you including limestone in your design? It is necessary to add a follow up to this where you are talking about the materials you will use.
