Materials and Sustainability

In this blog post I will talk about materials that I will use in my project, as you know my project will be on the beach, and I have to look for the materials for my building.

According to Build It “Seaside plots and properties may be highly desirable, but they’re accompanied by some weighty design considerations on everything from weatherproofing to maximising the views”. (Owen,2016)

And what I have looked one of the best materials that good for the weather resistant Is Limestone.

According to Artisan exterior they go through the three benefits of using limestone, first one It’s exceptionally durable, second one its limestone is extremely versatile, third one is a natural way to keep your home cool. However, I will go through all the three benefits in depth.

First point, it’s exceptionally durable, that means many people don’t know that limestone is one of the most durable of all natural building materials. Limestone is exceptionally weather resistant and” while it does naturally corrode over time, the corrosion is superficial and won’t impact the structural integrity of the structure” (Unknown Author, 2019).

Second point, limestone is extremely versatile, most types of limestone are off- white in colour.

However, limestone is easily shaped into blocks or bricks which makes it even more resourceful.

Third point and the last, is a natural way to keep your home cool, that means the temperature inside your home will be cooler and that tried for the electric bills decrease, and that help the environment.

In conclusion, limestone as an old natural stone known by humans, that makes it better for buildings, and weather resistant.

Another material I will use in my project will be Cedar Wood, that will be for rooftop in the house and some part of the house.

according to Northern log, this type of wood is popular species that used in long term ago with construction industry” Due to the aromatic, beautiful, and strong features of the wood, it’s a natural choice when it comes to building homes and other structures that can last for generations to come”. (Unknown Author, 2020)

and the cedar I will use will be Cedar is durable, that is suitable for the damp climates, which makes it such an ideal choice for exterior siding.

  1. Much better structure and thought in this terms post on Materials compared to last term. Good to see you writing in your own words and thinking more carefully about what you are using. Keep it up.
